 A thought-provoking and magical tale

"Agents of Time is a wonderful story for all ages, which sparks the imagination and will have you hooked on the unfolding adventure.
All the characters are well-drawn, but Connie, the central figure, is particularly memorable. Courageous, intelligent and kind, Connie has the reader rooting for her throughout, and her warm relationship with her grandfather is beautifully portrayed.
The story builds nicely as Connie gradually puts together the pieces of an intriguing mystery - how an old pocket watch can give the power to time travel. Along the way, she encounters unexpected people and places, always conscious of the risk to herself and others of altering the course of history.
As an adult reader, this book was a nostalgic reminder of childhood reading, when other worlds - such as Narnia and Middle-earth - provided inspiration and escapism. Agents of Time delivered exactly that, along with a finale that completely floored me, so I highly recommend you give it a try."

A Wonderful Time Travel Adventure

"I think about time travel often, so I was delighted when I received a copy of Agents of Time as a gift. I have read the author's previous works, the Merle trilogy, aimed at a younger audience and enjoyed all three books immensely, so I was keen to dive straight into Agents of Time. From start to finish, the book delivers. An intriguing storyline full of well-developed, relatable characters that explores the complexities and potential moral dilemmas of time travel. The tale is thought-provoking, to say the least, and I have found myself relating the core themes to friends whilst reading the book, leading to discussions around the topic. A great story which kept me engaged to the end, I recommend Agents of Time to anyone as perfect bedtime reading and a great way to encourage older children to read more. I look forward to Vogel's next work, which I am sure will be forthcoming."

A Fantastic Read!

"I always take a book on holiday to read, and this time I took “Agents of Time” by Alice Vogel. What a joy to read. The book transported me back to my childhood, when my Grandad used to read to my sister and me. A fan of time travel. The story gripped me from the start – as soon as I finished a chapter, I wanted to delve into the next one, so much so that I finished the book on the second day of my holiday. I love the character Connie and how she handles the challenges thrown her way. I actually felt like I was living her journey alongside her. Coming from Coventry, I loved how the author included landmarks I could relate to. Such a great story about family, friends, villains and time travelling, everything needed to produce a magical book. I would totally recommend this book; in fact, my mother, who is in her eighties, read it and absolutely loved it."

A breathtakingly beautiful journey through time, with an unforgettable ending

"I don’t usually leave reviews, but Agents of Time truly deserves one. From the very first chapter, Alice Vogal draws you into a world that’s rich with emotion, adventure, and imagination. Connie’s story is more than just a time-travel tale; it’s a heartfelt exploration of friendship, family, and the choices and events that shape us.

Unlike many young adult novels that tie everything up neatly, Vogal delivers an ending that’s unpredictable and deeply moving. It adds a layer of charm and complexity that elevates the entire story.

I read most of the book while journeying on an aeroplane, and I was hoping to finish the story before landing. I managed it, with a lump in my throat and a smile on my face.

This is a beautifully written book that lingers with you long after you’ve finished reading it. Highly recommended for readers of all ages who love stories that are both warm and surprising."

A Beautiful Captivating Tale

"The Agents of Time is a captivating and heartfelt read that beautifully balances adventure with emotion. The relationship between Connie and her grandfather is just one of the novel’s great strengths, grounding the story in genuine feeling and relatability. It evoked a sense of nostalgia, familiar and comforting, reminding me of my own childhood.

The setting and descriptions are vivid yet familiar, making the world feel both imaginative and real, while the well-paced plot keeps its momentum throughout. At times an emotional roller-coaster, the story blends excitement, reflection, and heartfelt moments with ease. Thoughtful themes of family, memory, and choice run throughout, adding meaning beyond the adventure itself.

Overall, The Agents of Time is a beautiful story for readers of all ages, engaging, emotional, and memorable long after the final page!"
